National Night Out
National Night Out is a national program that takes place in August. It is sponsored locally by many organizations; including police departments, fire departments, neighborhood associations and other community groups. The goal for this program is for neighbors to get an opportunity to meet each other and interact with City workers from local police and fire departments. Ultimately, this event is aimed at lowering violence in neighborhoods. If you spend time getting to know your local officials, you feel more comfortable asking for things your neighborhood may need, getting to know neighbors means you are more willing to look out for them when they need it.
The Kentwood Jaycees run a National Night Out program in Jaycee Park each year. The Jaycees run kids games, give out prizes and hand out snacks to those residents who come out. This is a very important program that the Kentwood Jaycees are proud to support each year.
