Forest of Fear

West Michigan's Preimer Haunted Attraction!
The Forest of Fear is the largest Fundraiser for the Kentwood Jaycees! The Forest of Fear is an interactive haunted attraction located deep in the woods in Caledonia, Michigan. Last year almost 9,000 people attended this haunted event! It is the largest outdoor haunted event in the Grand Rapids area.

In order to support the 2007 Fireworks in the City of Kentwood the Kentwood Jaycees are making a special donation this year. We will donate $1 from every Full Price Adult Ticket Sold at the 2006 Forest of Fear to the City of Kentwood 4th of July Celebration.

Happy Hour

Every 4th Friday of the month we get together for friendship and spirits!  This year we’re going to On The Border near the Woodland Mall in Kentwood.  The chapter will provide light appetizers.  Feel free to come whenever you get out of work and bring your co-workers, friends, or whomever you’d like.  This is just an evening to get together and have fun.  Contact the Membership V.P. for more information.

Softball Team

Each year the Kentwood Jaycees put together a Co-ed recreational softball team and play in the Kentwood Parks & Rec. league.  This year we are playing on Tuesday night’s, starting April 27th.  Game times vary, but are always at 6, 7, 8, or 9pm at either Kelloggwoods Park (field #5/#6) or North East Park (field #1).  Contact the Membership V.P. for more information.

CPR and First Aid Training

To help better ourselves, each year we offer CPR and First Aid Training at our clubhouse.  This training for 2010 has not been scheduled yet, contact the Individual Development V.P. for more information.

Blood Drives

We usually hold two to three Blood Drives each year to try and save lives.  The first Blood Drive for 2010 has not been scheduled yet, but it will be in 2nd Quarter at the clubhouse.  Contact the Community V.P. for more information.

Senior Prom

This year we are holding our 2nd Annual Senior Prom.  This is a prom for seniors at the Maple Creek Nursing Home.  It’s a chance for residents to dance and have a fun evening with us.  Music, corsages, and dancing are provided.  It will be February 16th at Maple Creek – The Lodge.  It’s a Mardi Gras theme this year in lieu of Fat Tuesday.  Contact the Community V.P. to get involved.

Kentwood Parades

The Kentwood Jaycees participate each year in the Kentwood 4th of July Parade and the Wyoming/Kentwood Chamber of Commerce Santa Parade.  Details for the 4th of July Parade have not been approved yet, but in the past it was held on July 3rd around 9:30am and runs from the Family Fare on 52nd and Eastern and travels south down to 60th and Kalamazoo.  The Santa Parade details have not yet been released for 2010, but it normally runs the first Saturday of December down Division Avenue.  To get involved, contact our Management V.P.

Wii nights

Wii nights are held throughout the year at our clubhouse to have some family fun!  All members and their families are invited to play on 2 different Wii systems set-up with lots of room to move.  This is FREE to all.  Our first Wii Night for 2010 is March 31st.  Look for another one later in the year as these can be very popular!

National Night Out

A unique safety and community event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) will be Tuesday, August 3rd this year at Jaycee Park.   Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 36 million people participated in National Night Out 2009.  Hundreds attended the Kentwood Jaycee National Night Event last year.
Anyone is welcome to attend.  Just come down to the park during the time that we announce and enjoy the activities.  Food and fun will be provided.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

City Involvement

The Kentwood Jaycees team up with the city of Kentwood when possible; often times with the Kentwood Parks & Recreation Department.  We are a member of the Wyoming/Kentwood Chamber of Commerce and often have local police and fire officials attend projects, like National Night Out and Easter Egg Hunt.  We participate in city parades, donate/help raise money for our 4th of July Fireworks and might be unveiling a new team project in late-April.  The Kentwood Jaycees have been asked to run a Beer Tent this year at the 4th of July Fireworks Celebration on July 3rd.  We will be presenting our plan for the Beer Tent to the city on Monday, April 12th.

Relay for Life

The Kentwood Jaycees are involved in the fight against cancer. The Relay for Life for 2009 has not been set as of yet, but as soon as we have the dates we will post them. Please come out for the 24 hour walk to support the cure.

Easter Eggstravaganza

This years Edd Hunt was Fantastic! Great job everyone! We had about 250 people attend and it was a gorgeous day at Jaycee Park. The Easter Bunny came out for a visit and the kids went crazy! They each received a free photo with the Easter Bunny!

Thanks for your support of this event! Come out to the Egg Hunt on April 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Sharp. Free Pictures with the bunny and lots of candy.

Business Networking

The Kentwood Jaycees are active members of the Kentwood Wyoming Chamber of Commerce. We regularly participate in the Chamber Networking Luncheons and After Hours events. This is a great way for us to expose the Kentwood Jaycee to others in our community. It is also a big perk for our members who are business owners! This allows them the opportunity to network with other business owners and potential customers!

Holiday Baskets

Each year the Kentwood Jaycees get together and help bring a little holiday spirit to some special Kentwood Residents! We provide Christmas groceries, childrens gifts and flowers to over 20 families and individuals that can not afford it on their own. A group of volunteers get together the weekend before Christmas and go grocery shopping for the food items and then hand deliver them to people. This gives the Jaycees some time to talk and socialize with area residents. This program is one of the most rewarding things a person can do or get involved in. This project take place each December. To get involved, come out to a General Membership Meeting and get the details!
